Does anyone have clear guidelines for HOW, the Quality standards are measured at all for the unity asset store ? Any specifications ?
I am trying to get a better understanding as to why this was deemed "not up to quality standard" Is it poly count, is it texture, is it materials ?

Thanks for any information that will help me understand the requirements more.

Did you search the asset store for similar stuff? Perhaps you can compare your asset with those already published and get some ideas.

Sorry but the Asset Store Team is a JOKE. There are PLENTY of assets with ZERO-to-NONE support. They are outdated, are not working anymore, containing zillion bugs but the Asset Store Team refuse to take them down. More and more ppl buying stuff they cant use.

A first rule for assets should be, if the support STOPS, the asset will be removed from the store. At least label it like UNSUPPORTED, PURCHASE ON OWN RISK. STUFF DOES NOT WORK AND YOU WONT GET MONEY BACK.

Well, the date next to the version label is an indicator of the health of the asset. Double check before purchasing assets that have not been updated for 6-12 months (send a test mail to the developer, ...).

Nice tip Thrawn75. I'd also suggest if you are unfortunate enough to purchase a asset and the publisher eventually skips town - write a nice quality asset review directly on the asset store page. Very few people will waste money on an asset when the last review for that asset states the publisher does not support that asset.

For OP - your texturing work is pretty good, but are there normals and spec, or only diffuse/albedo?
As far as the modeling goes - that is one of the squarest couches I've ever seen. Any character sitting on that couch will have clipping polys on the back part of the legs because the shape is so squared off.
Also it looks like your modeling techniques need to be tightened up. It looks like you are champfering polys but there is no logical reason the arm ends of the couch are shaped the way you have shaped them. If you modeled from reference, then I think there are cleaner methods to get the same shape you were after but with a cleaner mesh.
The pillows are exact duplicates of each other, with the same flower pattern in the exact same spot. If the pillows were slightly different I think it'd look better.
My guess it was a combination of the mesh and texturing, but mostly the low quality mesh.

You can complain to Unity directly higher up the system, it does work. Your assets looks pretty good, we need stuff like this.

I agree with the asset store team. Based on these screenshots the asset looks far below commercial standards.

As much as you'd like a checklist of things to fix until it's up to standard, this simply isn't how it works. What you need to do is stay positive and work to develop your art ability over years of practice and study.

RakeshPrakesh you just made this profile to post that? You have 1 post count. What the heck? Higher up in the Unity department they can fix the issue lower down the chain, just send complaint This is low poly well modeled for games, and texture holds good quality. I seen allot worse assets in the store.

I'm not a Unity employee, I just don't want to make such posts on my main.

I'm giving you honest real world feedback based on what I see. If you think this work is well modelled with good quality textures then great, keep at it, but if you continue your craft for some years and look back at this work, you will understand what I said in my original post.

    Hi,

Locking this as it descended into some kind of bitching thread. Not sure why. But to respect the OP's enquiry, I believe it might be the total absence of PBS textures, it generally doesn't look high quality enough, so you would want to ensure you have all the required maps and so forth.

The triangulation is also quite poor and seems to me to be non game ready.

It's also only just a sofa with nothing else, so if marketing for mobile you'd probably want to include baked maps and so on, or turn it into an interior pack.

As for other assets on the store being rubbish - the store is a big place. If you strongly object to the quality, you can report the asset on the relevant page with a reason why. Unity's raised the admission standards, so anyone who got in before standards were raised, will probably get evaluated and dropped at some point if no action was taken. AFAIK authors are asked to improve things.
