Bug Decals Show Through Objects

    I have decals on the ground [HDRP].

    I have a tank on top of the decal. The material on the tank is created automatically because I have a folder called "Textures" and a folder called "FBX".

    The decal is projected onto the tank even though it is outside of the projection zone. This doesn't happen to objects with materials created and assigned manually.

    The problem is, the only way I can use the textures is if it "auto assigns" them as materials based on some sort of naming convention (it would be a huge inconvenience to manually create 100s of materials from the textures). Is there a way to generate materials somewhere so they can just be normal materials that don't have this bug?

    I can fix it by opening up ( hitting the little carrot) on the material on the mesh renderer, but the problem comes back when I restart the editor.
