    Available in the Asset Store!
We moved to a new thread

Hi! We are working on our next model package which will contain 15 PBR dungeon traps.
Here is a quick video about the asset (work in progress)

    The content we are planning:
    • 15 traps and 4 control boxes
    • animations and particles for each trap
    • sound effects
    • scripts to handle damage (using interfaces and/or unity events to connect it with your damage system)
I'll keep this forum updated, but you can learn more about it here: https://runemarkstudio.com/unity-assets/deadly-dungeon-traps/
If you like how it's made posts check this article: https://runemarkstudio.com/blog/wip-traps/

We would love to hear your thoughts about this asset!
    Cheers!

Very interesting asset. If I were working on a fantasy game, then this would make a great addion to someone's dungeons.

Ok, so as I told you I have something really cool for you. Traps are deadly dangerous yes, but a well-skilled rouge might have the cunning to disable them. In this case, you need control boxes. Dotti made several different version to support your needs! Check these out

    Mechanical

    Steampunk

    Magical

    What do you think?

We switched to a lighter background, so you can better see the traps.

Don't take this as official eta, but we think about the end of July. :)
Majority of modeling and texturing is done. Animations and particles come next following by the script parts.

We lack the knowledge to create sound effects. So that will be tough. We really want to ship this asset with audio, so we'll hire someone to do it for us. The biggest question here is our budget, however.

I would encourage you to post in this thread! Ask a question if you have one, or just let us know you are interested in this asset! The more people are interested in the Traps pack, the more we can invest in sounds. ;)

Alternatively, you can subscribe to our email list. Those who subscribe will get a notification about the release before anyone else! Did I mention we are planning a launch discount?

I am interested in this asset and will probably purchase when it comes out. I already own the Dark Fantasy Kit and this looks like it will integrate nicely with the look and feel. Nice Job.

@KeithBrown You have keen eyes! :) Yes, you can totally use it with the Dark Fantasy Kit!

@JC_LEON That's actually a great idea! As an update. Could you share some concept, example image or video? That would help a lot! :)

    Good news everyone!
All the models are done! Dotti is working on the texture atlases, to make those high-resolution textures more optimal.
For me, it's time to jump into the scripting. We decided to use transform manipulation script for 'animating' the traps instead of prebaked animations. It's just better for reusability.

The first step, as always is planning. Now I prefer pen and paper over digital tools when it comes to planning, and I started to draw 'offline'. This is what I came up with.

A Trap class will be the main element of the package in terms of script. This can control any number of mechanism, which I divided into four sections: animated (moving or rotating), projectile, physics, and particle based. I'll do several different types of damage components too.

Hope you like my drawing! :D

Hey guys, we need your help! :)
We can't decide which version looks better. I make a poll for this, but if you want to answer with more details, please, don't be shy! :)

Hi everyone! Sorry for the long silence. We are busy preparing the package, testing all scripts and hunting for bugs. Dotti is working on the demo scene, in which you can see the traps in a more relevant context - a dungeon corridor. I would like to share a few images about it. The images are lightly post-processed.

Here are some particle-based traps, and some of the swinging mace traps.

I just published a new "work in progress" blog post to our website, with videos to show a little of the scripted components.

Gotta admit i like those, especially those fuse/defuse boxes... will we see some with circuits to pin/unpin?

For now, the disabler boxes have medium complexity. Some minor changes can occur on the particles (bubbles, sparks, leaks). The mechanical and magical ones (cogwheels, rune circles) have individual parts to tinker with, and one of the steampunk ones has buttons to press. To be honest I didn't plan circuit boards since the majority of the traps is old. I added this to our icebox of future update ideas.

Alright, we are getting ready for launch now. Uploaded the package to the Store and waiting for approval.
Made a 4k trailer to show as much as we can, you can watch it here:

Hopefully the approval won't take longer than 1 week! Until then, we will start to upload the first tutorial videos on our channel.

    Hi,

FYI : The ceiling chains are a bit bugged.
They get separated and the parts fly off in all directions.

    Hi RatBytes,

Did you update the package to the latest version?
This is a common problem with Unity's Physics system when using interconnected joints for chain and rope.
I usually solve this by selecting the chain parts and modify the Drag and Angular Drag parameters of the Rigidbody component. The higher these values, the chain will be less bouncy. You can also set the Mass a little bit higher.
Let me know if this works for you!
