    I picked this up immediately because obviously its another awesome asset from Mr Carlos.

    I'm particularly interested in the damage system and seeing some more extensions to this in future versions.
    Maybe some debris and extra variations on the damage textures, all pretty low hanging fruit that would add a lot.
    Looks like it is easy enough for the user to customize this but would be nice to have more defaults in the pack.

    I would love to see some doco on the damage system too.
    It's easy enough to peek around the clean code to figure out how it works, so not a big deal but I figure I'd give my feedback regardless.

    Thanks for the continued support!!

    Yeah adding more damage texture shapes, some kind of projectile/bullet feature, more spaceship base textures, more decal/sticker options, more example spaceships, and better tutorials are all on the to-do-very-soon list :D

    Also, please consider writing a preliminary review, they help immensely for new assets.

    Hey everyone,

    Here's a sneak peak of some updates to the damage system and thruster effect:



    The next version will feature more damage textures, explosion effects, and a more detailed thruster effect. The heat effect is also now visible in HDRP!

    Hey everyone,

    Version 1.0.2 of CW Spaceships is now out!
    • Fixed CwExplosion component's Radius setting.
    • Fixed UV mapping of parts with multiple meshes.
    • Fixed explosion heat glow effect not appearing in HDRP.
    • Added more explosion mark textures.
    • Added BASE / Emission Scale setting to Spaceship shader.
    • Added DECAL / Emission Scale setting to Spaceship shader.
    • Improved spaceship thruster effect.
    • Improved alternative base materials.

    More updates coming soon.

    I'm using Unity 2022.2.0b16 with HDRP 14.0.3.
    It appears in the latest update the shaders no longer work for this version.
    I understand this is a beta version of unity so I suspect Better Lit Shaders just doesn't support it yet.

    I don't think Better Shaders supports any beta versions, so you'll have to wait.

    Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself briefly.

    A few months ago, Carlos asked me if we would like to work together on an asset. I have known Carlos for a long time and he is really a great guy, so there was only one answer for me.

    I am the modeler for this asset and if you miss parts please let us know. If your suggestion fits the asset, then we will try to add that.

    Currently I am working on a new spaceship design. The freighter Relient. Here is a sneak peak.

    Looks great! I really like the design and colors, reminds me of ships from The Expanse :)

    I should make some more interesting color palettes for the current ships.

    Hello everyone,

    I want to show you the progress of the Relient. I finished adding stickers to the spaceship.
    Next step is creating one or two new materials.
    With the release of this spacehip design you will get more than 40 new sticker.

    @Darkcoder Hey CW. Im popping in from the SGT forum. I was the one who managed to create the black hole effect with the pre-existing components in SGT.

    In the project I am working on, we have a damage model we use through a shader and some code. It works well enough to lerp between two textures to show progressive damage.

    I am considering changing direction for the damage model but needed to ask a few questions first.
    Does this asset work with other ship models or only the ones included with the kit?

    For reference, the other procedural damage package we're considering is this one:

    To use the destruction system from CW Spaceships with your own ship models you must make those models into ship parts, and then build a ship design using only that part, and then load it in game as you would any other ship design.

    The requirements for a ship model are that the mesh must have child GameObjects with "Collider" in the name so they get turned into collider, and any other GameObject that doesn't include the name "Decal" will be treated as the main visual mesh. You must also enable the "Generate Lightmap UVs" setting. You can see the Spaceships/Models folder for all the existing ship part models.

    You can see the Spaceships/Parts folder for all ship parts that are built from these models. To make your own part from a model you can duplicate one of the existing ones, change the Model setting, and then click the "Update From Model" button, and you should be able to use it in a ship design.

    [Edit] One thing to keep in mind is that the spaceship parts aren't textured using a normal UV map with albedo/normal/etc textures. They're textured with a seamless base map and then decals are drawn on top.

    This asset comes with a bunch of incredibly high resolution planets you can put in the background of your scene. This asset includes and was used to render the planet seen in the background of the Spaceships asset store screenshots and videos.

    I got SGT, SGT Planets, Orbit and SpaceShips..
    At this point CW can make SGT Empty ( FILL YOUR SCENE WITH NOTHING!!!! wowza!) And I'd buy it.
    But yea I just saw Nebula and am curious about it

    Alright, I'll release SGT Empty for $999 :D

    Most of my assets like SGT are tools that allow you to build games with your own media. However, these new assets focus more on providing you ready to use media, so they're aimed at slightly different audiences. Also, media assets result in less support requests which is nice. Quite a lot of my time is spent answering emails and such which I'd rather move away from.

    I made a fun little spaceship battle demo scene using Spaceships and Space Graphics Toolkit.

    You can get a package of it HERE.

    NOTE: This requires Spaceships and Space Graphics Toolkit to run, and I recommend you enable the Deferred Rendering path due to all the bullets and explosions using lights.
