I want to be able to cut into a clip track.

Let's say I have a timeline like this:

At the playhead, I want to be able to cut into the animation and override tracks, open a hole and insert a new clip.

In this imaginary case, I have an angle on a character:

... and then I want to cut to the character's POV:

... and then return to the angle on the character:

The easiest way for me would be to cut into the clip, but this is not one of the 3 tool modes.

Use the split tool. Select the clips you want to split, put the playhead at the split point and right click-> Editing/Split. You can then use Ripple tool mode to move all the clips on the right to create the hole.

    Ah great! Found it!

Maybe it's time to go back to the manual. I missed this menu entirely.

    Thanks!
