Question Custom Character in 3D Controller

    I have a problem with fitting a 3D Controller (this one 3rd Person Controller + Fly Mode | Systems | Unity Asset Store) to an impoerted Genesis 8 female from DAZ3D.
    I have 3 objects in my scene besides the camera: a simple plane (10x1x10) with a mesh collider set to convex, the dummy figure provided by the Controller asset and the imported figure configured exactly like the dummy (Rigid body and capsule collider).
    Now the problem is, that while the import figure moves, it immediately topples over and flys off in random directions. The movement can eventually correct itself, but only if the figure has no more input from me and is mostly upright. Could it be an issue with the avatar created by Unity or something else entirely?
