Cursor is vertically flipped in editor

I'm basically having the same issue as this post and this post. My cursor looks like it's been flipped vertically. I've tried installing the breeze cursors package which already has arrow symlinked to left_ptr, so that recommendation didn't help. I'm not really sure what else makes sense to try. I'm running voidlinux. Any recommendations (even those not tested with my flavor of linux) are appreciated.
