After installing the 18.3.0f2 package, starting the editor as a standard user results in a SIGSEGV. Trying to run as root results in the root user warning, launches the editor, lets me login and select a cloud-based project, and then crashes with the SIGSEGV.

It turns out that the permissions on the .config/unity3d folder and content in my home folder were set to root:root for ownership. This was caused by my having executed the installer using sudo and then telling the installer to launch the IDE at the end.

The solution is to chown the .config/unity3d and the .local/share/unity3d folders. The prevention is to NOT launch the editor if you install using sudo.

not for me. I'm using happily 17.2, thought I'd give 18.3 a try as I want to use vscode instead of monodevelop. It crashes when I load up any project. So I'm going back to 17.2 for now.
