First of all... Here's the pre-alpha...

    Cube Physics Game

Move the camera around with the arrows keys or WASD, shoot a projectile with the left mouse button and increase/decrease bullet power with the brackets.

(The speed is mostly just for my own testing, but we'll see if people like it)

The goal is to knock all the blue blocks onto the ground.

There's currently 4 levels, none of which are particularly challenging, as it's mostly just a prototype to help me learn Unity better.

The last level actually doesn't announce that you've beat it when you do, something I'm still trying to figure out on that one.

Well anyway, I hope you guys like it. If you've got any crits/comments/bugs, I'd love to hear them!

You know what I love about this? You've actually taken the basic tutorial from Will Goldstone's book and applied your knowledge in a new way. It's a cool idea, and I think it's a heap of fun to play around with. More importantly, you made something and released. Good job. I think it's a good idea. Get the basic functionality working. You could replace the existing things with other objects and a nice little skybox and it would be quite neat.

Edit: Unless I am really dumb, the last level just has one cube, but says it has two... As far as I can tell you can't rotate the camera, so I can't see if there is another cube behind me.

    Haha, thanks :)

So far I've just been trying to figure out the gameplay. I've got a few ideas for new weapons, but this is where I'm at right now.

Also got some ideas for the art and backstory, what there will be of one anyway.

You're right on the last level, I added too many cubes to the counter :)

Awesome! Great example to other beginners to take a simple example and add more gameplay, bravo!

Thanks Will! I haven't gotten much further in the book yet, but eventually I will, haha.

Thanks for putting together such a great resource.

That was really fun; mooooaaaar! :D
Only thing I noticed apart from the last level was moving the camera below the floor/outside of the box (you probably already know this ^^).

Haha, yeah :) Haven't gotten around to limiting that part yet.

    Glad you liked it!

    Added a few things...

    • Added in some basic Playtomic tracking (levels played, time taken per level, total time played)
    • Added in a timer so you can see how long you've taken per level (Mostly just for debugging, at the moment)
    • Fixed the last level bug so you can actually complete the game now

Changed the final level to a bowling pin style, much more difficult :)

Some big changes have been made...

    1. You can now rotate your view so you can shoot from angles
    2. Added a new level but have 3 more I need to publish
    3. Fixed some Playtomic tracking
    4. Modified the "bowling" level to make it beatable
    5. Started work on new weapons
    6. Working on finding new models for all the game objects

Let me know what you guys think. You'll mostly notice the new controls and new level. Everything else is in the background or hasn't been fully implimented yet.
