Im looking for a way to create a small 3D grid in a manual created form (and later with snapping). I started unity and C# this way so if anyone can give me pointer on how to start. I don't want a full script as I want to create it and get there myself.

Closest thing for a picture is a boardgame I used to play:

The number on the truck is the height of it. I want to create something similar. Odd shaped 1x1x1 boxed grids.

Anyone can help me to start?

Arrays are natural places to start for grid based games.

I know and I am using an array to create a grid. It is working fine. But I am trying to find a way to create odd shapes other than just rectangles. I am figuring out a way to put 'walls' in the grid which are not visible.

See it as the green truck op top with the cross on it. For instance, Iwant to put a 3x1 or 4x1 beam on the cross w/o being able to place it anywhere else on the card/grid.
