Would students (and contributors) benefit from a dedicated forum for school projects ?
Or is it a bad idea ?

I'm not sure they would always benefit by using it. Why ask fellow students to help with their homework, while professionals are replying in other parts of the forum?

Students should learn asking questions professionally.
This way they are part of the community, rather being separate group entity.
And no one wants to make homework for them.
Plus primary skill for students is to learn using various search tools.
Most of their questions were answered multiple times over.

I think it's a cool idea. There are enough users to create an entire student community. That would be super cool and extremely useful! I believe that networking is one of the most important things in general. This is a very simple rule - if you want to be good at something, you should find people with common goals. When I was at college, it was really difficult for me to study, but I got some friends that have recommended me https://studyhippo.com/test-answers/aggregate-planning/ where I have found the answers for my test about aggregate planning, and my college life became much easier. That's why it is so important.
