I'm just about ready to throw my computer out of the window, so really hope someone can help with this!

All week Unity has been working fine for me, but as of yesterday, it crashes every single time I try to open any project at all. I can create a brand new empty project, still crashes.
I've tried several different versions of Unity 2018 (was originally using 2018.2.10 when the issue first occurred) and have seen no change in behaviour.
Am now on the latest version, still crashes all the time.
I've checked firewall rules, updated graphics drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled Unity about 10 times, deleted all caches and some other Unity files, nothing changes.
I've seen some reports of similar behaviour with Citrix, but I don't have and have never had that installed.
Haven't had any hardware changes or new software installed recently, only Windows update is an Adobe security patch.

I've lodged several bug reports for different configurations, but really hoping for some quick advice because I've been completely unable to work for since yesterday afternoon and am all out of ideas.

What OS? What hardware (CPU, GPU)?

I'd actually go ahead and make sure windows update is fully up-to-date and that you have no other applications running (close or disable antivirus/firewall temporarily) while your using unity to as a precaution for testing.

Do other applications work fine? Games? Is this a new fresh installation of the operating system or one you have used for a while?

    Windows 10, build 17134
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Have checked for Windows updates, none available (all up to date).
Just tried closing every possible process and application, no change.

I should mention other versions of Unity (2017 and 5.3) run fine with no issues. The issue is specific to 2018.
Computer is not new at all, it's my work PC that I use 5 days a week, a few years old.
Haven't noticed any other issues with the PC or other programs.

    Hmm that is definitely strange.

All I see in the logs that seems to point towards what goes wrong is this:
    Code (csharp):
    1. Read from location 0000000000000000 caused an access violation.
And I'm not sure what to make of it. Perhaps this is a unity bug you've run into!

Maybe try running as Admin if you aren't already?

Tried manually running as admin, no change unfortunately. Have attached the error log from that crash, but looks the same to me.
The Access Violation error is pretty unhelpful, no idea what to make of it!

The frustrating thing is I haven't updated Unity in months - we use 2018.2.10 as our stable / safe build at work. The rest of my team is using the same version, on the same PCs, with no issue. I've got no idea how an issue this serious has just appeared out of nowhere.

For what it's worth, the same crash happens in the beta build too, 2018.3.0b12

Unity 2019 beta also crashes immediately, but doesn't generate crash logs, oddly.

I've also tried using the command line to return the license and reactivate it, to run Unity in batchmode, in batchmode no graphics, glcore.
I've tried running Windows in Safe Mode.
Nothing helps. Always crashes immediately on start up.

Made some progress. Unity only crashes on my account, on my PC. If I log into a different account on the same PC, no crash. If I log into my account on a different PC, no crash.
Looking into account specific files now.
Going on three days of constant Unity crashes and no development work done.

Well that is odd, that the account makes any difference at all!

I think that might need a bug report and perhaps the UT guys might want to look at your local files for your account to work out whats going wrong.

Definitely a head scratcher. Thinking something user specific in my registry, or certificate manager might be corrupted or broken in some way. No idea what caused it, Unity worked one day, and not the next. Obviously the computer itself is fine if I can run Unity on a different account.
I'd like to get to the bottom of this, but I'm not sure I ever will - too much time lost. Think IT will be wiping my hard drive and I'll be starting again tomorrow.

Forgot to mention, I've already submitted several bug reports to Unity with error logs and project files attached.
