This has been happening for a couple of days now, and I haven't figured out how to resolve it. I submitted a bug already, but it's so disruptive that I was hoping someone might have advice to help me fix this.

The issue is simple: Any breakpoint I hit in Visual Studio causes Unity to crash immediately. I can't debug my code anymore.

I've done the following to try to fix this:
The only information I can get on this is an Event View error:

Faulting application name: Unity.exe, version: 2018.1.9.48088, time stamp: 0x5b4732fa
Faulting module name: mono-2.0-bdwgc.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5b106a81
    Exception code: 0xc0000409
    Fault offset: 0x0000000000333d20
    Faulting process id: 0x5184
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d43c0a1c86947b
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Unity\Editor\Unity.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Unity\Editor\Data\MonoBleedingEdge\EmbedRuntime\mono-2.0-bdwgc.dll
    Report Id: 787cb032-1408-4c61-8d6a-964c34224b54
    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:

Anyone have any ideas on how else I might resolve this? Thanks.

Addition things I've tried doing, all without successs:
    • Completely uninstall and reinstall Unity, including deleting all Unity AppData.
    • Disable any anti-virus software
Does anyone have any other suggestions of things I can try to remove/reinstall that might be causing this? Any breakpoint I hit immediately crashes Unity. I am completely unable to debug right now.

    Thanks.

The next thing I did was to completely uninstall Visual Studio Community and reinstall it, and fortunately it looks like that has fixed the issue. So I'm all set now.

I had the same issue with Unity crashing out as soon as I hit a break point in VS Community (Win).
Tried reboot system, delete all the .csproj and sln files but nothing work.

Then you gave me the idea to repair VSC.
    1. Start > Visual Studio Installer
    2. Select the drop down list for Repair
    3. Then after a reboot, debugging works again.
