I just released my first game last week for Android and this week on iOS ( http://endspacevr.com/ ) in case you wanted to have a look.

I started searching on Google for the title of my game and found many websites offering the .apk as a free download. This is a paid app, I've been trying to contact these sites to remove the game but it's a battle.

I spent so long learning and developing End Space VR, its disheartening to see it get pirated, as many other developer has felt. I even found someone claiming he developed the game and is making youtube videos about it and how to download it for free.

My question then is what can I do to incorporate more security into my game? This is a game that doesn't require internet permissions, and is also in VR if that limits my options, I'm not sure.

Sorry to hear this, I hope you get a decent reply. I have same issue so made the Android version free with InApps and Adverts, even this cannot really help, but maybe a tactic to think about in the future. Android users want everything for free. Not sure why there charts so different to Apple users.

    Pirating is inevitable.

Have you actually tried to follow any of the download links? Because I was pretty surprised when I thought I saw the same thing for my game. The sites said things like "Download for free" and "Free APK" but it ended up that all the download links redirected to my Google Play page.

I did try and was able to download the .apk. I was really surprised. Luckily the YouTuber deleted his video and Facebook pages after contacting him about it.

But the question remains as to if there is something I can add with Unity to help crack down on the piracy. I know I can't stop it but maybe there's something I missed when I developed the game. I've tried to look into the licensing server but haven't found much information.
