In offline rendering I am used to be able to set the maximum number of cores that are used for rendering. Using one less allows me to still work while rendering. I am missing such a feature in Unity. When I render lightmaps in Progressive mode the screen freezes regularly for 1-3 seconds. Only when I set the priority in the task manager of Unity to Low I can work without issues. Problem is that I have to do it all the time I open it up and when I run multiple instances I have to find the right one. This also is the reason why I disable Auto Bake, it not just re-bakes way to often and unnecessarily but also is impossible to work with. And the specs are: Win 10 Pro Intel Xeon E5-1620 v3 64GB RAM SSD Raid Do you also have lags while rendering and is there another solution maybe? It would be great if Unity adds support for that.
Yeah I suggested in a feedback comment 3 years ago that baking should use total cores - 1 or allow it to be configurable. At this point the first thing I do when I create a new project or scene is make sure auto bake is disabled. https://feedback.unity3d.com/sugges...-the-possibility-of-continuing-the-bake-later
