CopySerialized being as dumb as a rock...

I tried copying a MonoBehaviour, and it works fine... Until I discovered it also clone the ScriptableObject the MonoBehaviour was referencing. Which is horribly dumb.

Is there a native method for cloning object without cloning referenced files?

SerializedObject is going to be your best bet I think:
http://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/SerializedObject.CopyFromSerializedProperty.html

You can enumerate over the properties of the 'source' object and then copy them to the 'target' object.

Not really, but it's alright I guess. I had hoped to not have to recursively iterate over everything.
