    Introduction & Summary:
    Summer Discovery is a pre-college summer enrichment program for middle and high school students. We are seeking to hire a Curriculum Advisor to develop a game design course using Unity for high school students for Summer 2022.

    Available Positions and Job Descriptions:
    • The Curriculum Advisor role is contract, remote, with a flexible schedule. Most of the work will be completed between November 2021-March 2022, with some additional hours through June 2022.
    • There is also an opportunity for in-person teaching at one of the program locations during the summer.
    What We Are Looking For:
    The Curriculum Advisor is responsible for developing and planning an experiential and engaging project-based course within the framework of a career exploration.

    Qualifications
    • Master’s, PhD or terminal degree student, industry or education professional in subject matter area.

    • Classroom or curriculum development experience in subject matter.

    • Project-based teaching and backwards design curriculum development experience is preferred.

    • Must be at least 21 years of age and be eligible to work in the US.

    • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Docs, and online learning platforms. Experience with Canvas preferred.

    • Strong C# object-oriented programming and scripting language skills

    • Experience working with game assets (meshes, animations, materials etc.)

    • Experience with Unity 3D/Content Development
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Knowledge of curriculum development processes and priorities.

    • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

    • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.

    • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.

    • Ability to manage and coordinate assignments to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

    • Ability to work independently to complete assignments.

    • Each summer, Summer Discovery offers motivated middle and high school students the opportunity to experience life and academics on a college campus. Our dynamic programs provide motivated students opportunities to learn more about a subject area of their interest, explore their future careers, and meet like-minded peers. Students attend classes taught by qualified pre-college instructors, subject matter experts and industry professionals and gain hands-on learning experience through activities inside and outside the classroom.     Progress:
    • Summer Discovery will provide the general course framework using a project-based and experiential approach to learning. The curriculum developer will provide subject matter expertise to hone course content within the framework provided. The curriculum developer will work closely with 1-2 Summer Discovery team members with some additional collaboration with instructors who will teach the course.
