It has been said a game is never completely finished, but I feel my game, Consume, is finally done. I spent about a year (part-time) making the actual game, and about seven months in alpha/beta testing. It is now available in full release (and for free) on Google Play.

I started programming Consume with Unity 4.5, and finished it with Unity 5.1. I have absolutely no formal education in programming, and had to develop most of my skills on the fly.

I will say I could not have made Consume if the Unity game engine, and everything that exists as a result of the engine, were never made. I've watched Unity videos, read the forums, purchased game assets, and educated myself on game creation.

I now believe anything of the mind can be made real, with enough effort. Consume was super hard to bring from inception to completion, but it was worth it. I have some minor fixes I will make as time progresses, but I feel the majority of the game is done.

Try not to be too hard on me, but if you have some constructive feedback, please drop a comment.

    Alright, a short review:

First off, well done! The main concept behind the game is simple yet engaging, and the game is smooth and polished.

    Here are two quick recommendations:
    • I was a bit confused on how to play the game when I first started. It was easy to figure out, but, if possible, a simple (meaning one short page of text) tutorial would be helpful, just to explain things such as upgrading.
    • In my playthrough, I found that everything stayed more or less the same speed. Although the game is certainly engaging, I believe that if, over time, the speed (and number) of the energy-balls increased, it would make for a more stressful (therefore addicting) environment.
Besides that, I've enjoyed this game! Keep up the good work! :)

@Pandantly Thank you so much for your comprehensive and honest review! :D

You are so right that the game needs some sort of tutorial level, or quick-start guide. I think I have tunnel vision with the game sometimes. I'm not sure how I made such an obvious oversight. I will get to work on some kind of tutorial level, and skill use walkthrough or informational page.

For your second recommendation, I can definitely change the speed and amount over time, or even based on points, or perhaps enemy consumption. The way I programmed the core of the game allows for variable adjustment of enemy production rate, speed, type, and size. And it can be manipulated at any point in the game.

Such great recommendations! Thank you for taking the time to give me some great advice.
