Component enabled checkbox not updating unless expanded in Inspector

    I am turning the mesh renderer on and off with a vive wand in Unity 2019.3.0f5 and unless the mesh renderer component it is selected and expanded in the inspector it will not update the value in the checkbox, even though the mesh rend on the object is turning on and off. Im not sure if this is isolated to just to the mesh renderer or if this is a bigger issue with inspector values not updating for other components and scripts for other users. Let me tell you how much time I wasted trying to figure out what was going on....
