I'm glad to be getting started with Unity. I have an inquiry regarding program compatibility. I haven't gotten Photoshop yet, but I have a program called Open Canvas, which if I remember correctly behaves in the same way Photoshop does. Are Unity and Open Canvas compatible with each other? If not, does anyone have a program suggestion? I'm not able to afford the full program of Photoshop yet. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this, however.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your input.

  2. Unity supports these bitmap formats: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/ImportingTextures.html if you can export with any of these, you're able to work. The convenience probably isn't that much as with PS, but it works.
Also if you're looking for PS-replacement, you may want to check out Krita, it even writes and reads PSD format.

Thank you, Lurking-Ninja. I'll make sure to look into everything you've mentioned.

Also have a look at Affinity Photo. It supports .psd as well and is rather cheap, without any subscription model.
