I agree, when you can totally freak someone out you know you've hit a sweet point. It's the reward that are horror games. It's not all about scares, it's about true psychological terror.

One of the most scary things, I've read <- NOT seen was Stephen's King's misery, and the terror is crafted through carefully spinning a story and the subtle increasing violence between the protagonist and the antagonist.

Do you really believe that someone who is actually scared up to tears, from horror games, that will actually play horror games? I'm confident that this sort of "experienced playthrough" is just an act, as a profession, so that the person will get some money from their videos.

Think about this, you (and lots of other people) find this video like an example of something (making a point, having fun, or just for showcase) so the video goes viral.

+1 on saying that people are less scared when watching other people getting scared and playing the game. They probably get exited and smile from the player's reaction, instead of getting scared and dead if they played the game on their own :)

lol, i bet you do lots of push-ups :D

I'm actually not sure if that's sarcasm or not. In truth, I do virtually no pushups. On average, throughout my life, I've done an average of less than 1 pushup per day. The same can be said for most exercise.

By "well-built" I meant that I'm 5'11 and 215 lbs, not that I'm staring at myself in the mirror, flexing my muscles as we speak. I can see that I probably chose the wrong word.

I was playing resident evil 7 on playstation VR and it wasnt scary. The VR didnt seem to add anything to the game because you cant even look around with your visor.

But she didn't cry in any of her other horror game videos that I've seen. She usually tries to stick it out. Only a small percentage of her videos are of horror games, precisely because she doesn't handle them very well. So her reaction to "Affected" doesn't seem to be a marketing gimmick.

I don't think you were playing it in VR mode. I've only played the demo, but when it starts up it asks you if you want to enable VR mode. If you don't, you'll end up with basically just a giant TV screen in the VR. If you do, you'll end up looking around as if you're actually in the house.

The horror game "Tattletail" has done pretty well despite being a small indie game with a fairly short playing time: http://steamspy.com/app/568090

It reminds people of the Furbies they were afraid of during childhood.

I'm not sure why the Steamspy numbers dropped so much in the last two days, and in fact the numbers routinely go up and down (is that from refunds, or just fluctuating estimates?). The reviews are still positive.
