Hey I just noticed that new rule today on this section of the forum: no more replies on the threads. I'm not sure it's a good idea at all. Even if we can still edit our previous posts on here. it's still possible for users to create new threads just to be on top and would again require a lot of the moderators attention...

It's also impossible for clients to post their experience with the freelancers they hired. This is important for potential employers to see the degree of satisfaction of previous people who hired the freelancer.( Again here it's still possible to have fake reviews...)

What would happen to a freelancer who is really active and looking for clients and get his thread buried because others are just creating new ones?

I'm really not sure if this is a really good decision at all.

@Aurore and @sara (community managers) is there any good solution out there that would solve problems on all sides ( clients willing to share their experience, freelancers willing to provide an update on their portfolio, schedule etc... and moderators not overwhelmed by moderating...)

Thanks in advance for your reply

To be clear: Are you talking about the Job Offering forum, or the Job Seeking forum?

I'm just gonna say this.... no, there's not a solution that can please everybody, especially when the wants of some users are going to directly contradict the wants of others. A crappy coder is definitely not going to want to allow his past employers to comment on his thread looking for work, while prospective employers would obviously be better served having that information. On the flipside, a good coder who has made the mistake of working for a douchebag might also want to disallow the douchebag from commenting on his thread, and rightly so. And how are the moderators to know which situation is which? I suspect this is the rationale behind that policy. (Admittedly, I haven't been on any of the job forums in at least 6 months, so this is wild speculation on my part)

While I totally understand what you're saying. There is still the last issue with the freelancers creating a new thread to be on top and more visible... Which is pretty much a big bump... Still requiring the moderators to be really aware and active. there is always a way around...
I really expect a big waves of brand new threads on this section soon... What will the moderators do? remove the duplicates? which one to keep? the older or the new one? etc...
I know it's kinda tricky but there might be a solution... Who knows (maybe ask God???? :) )

Though it is enforced on both seeking and offering sections.

@DanielQuick : sure, but right now I'm talking as a job seeker and "maybe" on behalf of other job seekers.
