Anyone know of a tool for building digital comics like those from Comixology? The target platforms would be both web and iOS.

It would be great to use Unity to design the reader, but it would be an odd fit.

A friend is trying to pitch a digital comic book-style presentation to a client, but I haven't been able to find a tool that would help with the display. Ideally you'd want to load in the thumbnails, full pages and individual panel images and the tool would allow you to define the playback order.

You could use comic life from plasq.
    http://plasq.com/
Once you have created the content, you can save it as jpegs and use a standard presentation tool like Keynote or PowerPoint.
Or you could save the content as pdf so you can distribute it in printed form as a brochure.

    Hello,

We have realized a Comic book reader with Unity for iPhone/iPad/web ( very fast on iPhone 3G too).
You can zoom with double tap or pinch and navigate manually through the pages.
Or you can use buttons to navigate with precalculate path ( Pan and Zoom ).
In fact we have realized an external Editor to manage the virtual navigation for panel images: you can select areas for camera Pan and Zoom .

Feel free to contact me for more information.

I've always used CDisplay in Windows and FFView in OSX for reading digital comics.

So hey, can you explain or elaborate on how to do so. Do we need any other plug ins or download any other software in the process as well as maybe the scripting part?
By the way I mean to create a comic (just a comic app of my work that is interactive) in unity 5, the artwork of the comic is done and saved as JPEG format, now I am in search of how to make that readable and interactive on an android smartphone/tablet (for starters) but don't know on how to do so. I have my own idea on how but i don't think it's the only way is it, like maybe applying those artwork JPEG files on a plane as textures then code the plane to interact, is it?

I'm new at Unity as a student, so need suggestion i guess. Anyway Thanking you in advance if you can help me out.

Please check this asset if it fits your needs. If you tell me what exactly you need, I might be able to help.

I would say Anime Studio Pro (aka Moho) or Motion Artist then put them in pdf format.

Not sure if you want to author a comic, or if you want to take something you authored and put it in cbr format. If the former, try manga studio, if the latter, a cbr file is just a zip file with the pages numbered a certain way. There is a lot of info on the web about cbr format.

If you're looking for something like an interactive graphic novel in unity, then there is a pretty good asset to create such a thing, though I can't remember the name of it.

Don't listen to him. His post is factually incorrect. CBR is RAR file. CBZ is ZIP.

Zip~=RAR unless you're being pedantic. I wrote a comic book reader for windows phone a few years back when there was nothing on the platform to read my comics. I know a lot about it, though admittedly it has been a few years since I used that knowledge.

Great Idea. I will construct a time machine to travel back one year (last time the guy who asked the question was online) and tell him all about it!
Maybe he will still remember that thread he made EIGHT YEARS AGO.

I have seen many comic stories launched in Play Store. But do you think people will read them?
