Hi! I've never tried unity collab before and I want to share my projects with a few friends of mine, so I tried enabling collab but all of a sudden I'm getting errors by the dozen in the console with the error message being "Collab service is deprecated and has been replaced with plasticSCM" does anybody know what this means or can somebody help me out here?

I had this start happening yesterday with a Plastic SCM project.
    U 2022.2.9f1 Hub 3.2.0 Version Control 1.17.1

What worked for me was : I disabled Version Control in services*, Closed Unity, Closed Hub. Edited ProjectSettings.asset
    cloudServicesEnabled:
    Collab: 0

I tried this several times, based on a previous post. However the value kept being re-set to 1, until I closed hub before making this edit.

    * I don't know if disabling version control was part of the fix but I'm going to use the Plastic SCM app for this project from this point on. I can't trust the Unity in-editor Spastic SCM plug-in anymore.

While any source control is better than none, please consider using proper industrial-grade enterprise-qualified source control in order to guard and protect your hard-earned work.

Personally I use git (completely outside of Unity) because it is free and there are tons of tutorials out there to help you set it up as well as free places to host your repo (BitBucket, Github, Gitlab, etc.).

You can also push git repositories to other drives: thumb drives, USB drives, network drives, etc., effectively putting a complete copy of the repository there.

As far as configuring Unity to play nice with git, keep this in mind:

Here's how I use git in one of my games, Jetpack Kurt:

Using fine-grained source control as you work to refine your engineering:

    Share/Sharing source code between projects:

Setting up an appropriate .gitignore file for Unity3D:

Generally setting Unity up (includes above .gitignore concepts):

It is only simple economics that you must expend as much effort into backing it up as you feel the work is worth in the first place. Digital storage is so unbelievably cheap today that you can buy gigabytes of flash drive storage for about the price of a cup of coffee. It's simply ridiculous not to back up.

I am also having this very issue. I tried what ericpug suggested, but it did not work for me and reverted back to collab when I opened the project and Unity Hub again.

[Collab] Collab service is deprecated and has been replaced with PlasticSCM in the console every 0.5 seconds.

I had already migrated my project to PlasticSCM but it is now greyed out in the Window menu after upgrading from 2021.2.19f to 2022.1.11f Unity.

I have Version Control 1.17.2 from DevOps.

    EDIT: Fixed here.
