Okay so i’m going to Uni at the moment and we were told to use Unity for our current project, there a problem tho, they won't instal visual studios on the system and Mono wont link to unity (No intellisense or reconation of Unitys variables or types) Can anyone recommend me a code editor I can run of a external hard drive or get the uni to install?

    manny thanks - C

@Voodoo1 Without knowing why they won't install VS it is unlikely they will install a different one. However, try Rider, they offer educational licenses.

If they "told" you to use Unity, then you also need an editor, and Visual Studio is the default. Did they explain why they won't allow VS?

See if they will allow VS Code rather than regular VS. Can I assume the reason they don't want VS is licensing related?

I'm rather surprised you'd be told you need to install Unity, but they don't have a solution for the code editor ready to go.
