    Hi,

I'm Paul, aka L2GX, aka a lot of akas, and I'd like to show my game choochoo : wooden trains for kids

    Google Play link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.l2gx.choochoo

    Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/l2gx/

I don't have many screenshots online at the moment, most of that is on Instagram. There's a site, too: http://www.l2gx.net/choochoo/

    What is it?

simply put, the player can look at trains and cars. They can switch cameras, and they can switch between scenes.

That doesn't sound like much of a game!

It isn't! The graphics are nice though, and it's relaxing. Give it a try.

    I knew it! It's a sales pitch.

Not really. My intended audience is preschoolers. Turns out it's hard to market to preschoolers, you're marketing to their parents. It's also hard to market to parents, actually.

    Hindsight is 20/20!

Yeap. However, ChooChoo comes from a special place. I'd been working on an airplane game, which now is also out but needs polishing before I market it.
The airplane game was my first Unity try. One month in, I had something simple that moved and did things. I decided to add another month. One year in, it had serious feature creep issues, and was far from release.
I did ChooChoo to bring the fun back. It needed to be excessively simple.
And it was, and is. After initial serious coding, most of the ChooChoo development is fun modeling in Blender.

    How long did ChooChoo take?

About one month till initial release, which was august.
At that point there was one scene, several trains, cars, etc, and you tapped the screen to swap cameras.
Later on I added a bit more interface- it's still for preschoolers!
More trains and more scenes were added.

I had a big crunch moment for Halloween, and added below little scene for Christmas. Both got me a tiny install boost.

How many installs do you have?

I just hit 500! (On the dot, I took a screenshot.) About 84 devices with a remaining install. Usage varies, but using google admob I draw in about 2 euros a month.
However, it's still early, and I'm hoping for a long tail on this. I'll add to it at one point, and I have a secret concept for a follow up that'll be a bit more of a game.

    More plans?

I'll be creating a better trailer in Blender, for which I'll also work on the cameras a bit. Then it's a release on iOS, and hopefully at that point I'll feel a bit more secure marketing the airplane game, too.

    Thanks for reading!

I love the low poly style. The game looks very nice! Good luck with it!
