    Hi,
I've released Cheetah3D 4.1 today. The first minor update to Cheetah3D 4.0 fixes most of the problems reported after the release of v4.0.
But it also adds some very powerful new features which didn't make it into v4.0. For example a 2D IK solver (or rotational plane solver) which is very convenient and predictable when animating arms and legs of characters. Furthermore v4.1 adds some more constraints tags (orient, point) and IK baking.

You can find out more about Cheetah3D 4.1 at:

    Bye,
    Martin

I am still on 10.3. I didnt really care for widgets or searchlight so I figured I would save my self a buck and skip a version. Plus none of my apps have stopped supporting 10.3.9 so its worked well so far. Really want to try cheetah thought looks like some really cool stuff.

I upgraded to 10.4 for other reasons, but I ended up using Spotlight and widgets all the time, despite an initial "meh" reaction. Of course, with Leopard due out in the relatively near future (sort of), I suppose it's better to keep waiting. But Tiger was definitely worth it.

So far, in my opinion, every OS X update has been well worth it.

    10.1 -- actually usable vs. 10.0
10.2 -- WAY faster (on identical hardware) than 10.1
10.3 -- faster, major UI improvements
    10.4 -- faster, spotlight, Mail
10.5 -- will be the best yet (Time Machine...)

Of course all the Windows XP service packs etc. over this time have been free, but none of them really *improved* XP.

XP service packs, every single one slows down the PC by 5%, by the end of the day, you have 10 billion processes running and no one knows why.

I love my mac, the day I figure out how to install the mac OS on my pc, heaven help the machines I own, they all will be formated with mac OS installed on them.

I have a new Dell (Vista) laptop (for testing) which I hardly ever turn on. I am still using my iBook G4 every day. I am so with you on this :)

I will say -- in Microsoft's defense -- that OS X 10.3 was the first Mac OS X that didn't feel sluggish compared to XP running on comparable hardware.

    I been watching CHeeta3d since 2.something
If it was available for OS X 10.3.9
I'd register a copy now.. But I'll be waiting for 10.5 to come out

    I recently bought my copy.
Animation really put me over the edge of a purchase.
I don't see how one could purchase Cheetah 3d 4.x and not feel it's one of the best software purchases ever.
In some ways I like it better than Cinema4d (800-900 USD)
