    Just to share,

I buy quite a lot of Unity Assetstore, last month I went through my credit card statement, there is one item USD 20.99 charged from Assetstore. I went through all my purchases receipts, and couldn't find anything I bought that was USD 20.99.

I brought this to Assetstore support attention. Their reply? Not their problem, I should call bank to do a chargeback.

So morale, check your purchases carefully.

Somehow I think they misunderstood your concern. If Unity were to charge you twice for the same asset, it would be very obvious that this is the case, and easily provable. And if they refused to reimburse you, it is something you could easily report to the Better Business Bureau, which would seriously hurt their image.

I'd try again, but be as clear as possible, and provide proof of the issue. If you provide the proof, I doubt they would be interested in hurting their brand over 20 dollars. Probably a misunderstanding.

Nope, it's a charge for unknown item. I have no item bought at the price. I have provide them a copy of my ccc with the transaction id, I would expect them to do some checking on theiir side, but it seems nope.

It's not a double charge. Last time, there was a double charge item, also Unity Assetstore refuses to refund, paypal also sided with them, and I had to do a chargeback, which is troublesome because I had to get a new card.

Did you contact your bank and get your money back?

not yet. I'm hoping Unity side will investigate. Doing a chargeback is quite troublesome too as I have to be issued a new card.

He technically shouldn't have to. Not specifically taking sides because I don't have (nor want) all of the details, but for the sake of argument... if there is a charge for $20.99 and there is no matching purchase on his account and Unity can't show what they charged it should be Unity's responsibility to refund it rather than place the extra burden on the buyer.

There couldn't be that many items in the asset store that cost $20.99. I bet you enabled that 'Express Purchase' and accidently bought something.

Must of been something on sale then but I have had seemingly similar 'double charges' in my bank account. They'll stay til (edit: one of) the payment clears.

The financial statement will have the timestamp of the transaction down to milliseconds and so if the double charge as claimed actually does go through twice it will be easy to get Unity to refund.

That said, in the past 3 months I also have had 3 different transactions from 2 different businesses showed up as double charges in my bank account. Neither was Unity although I have used both a VISA Debit Bank Card and a VISA Credit card with Unity in those 3 months it was instead Amazon twice and Hughes Net Drive Safe & Save (now owned by Verizon) but eventually only one of the charges was charged to my bank account. Both Amazon & Hughes Net both used the same VISA Bank Debit card I used with Unity so go figure? No ideal what the problem is there. I sure didn't double-click or refresh on the payment page or anything like that. The Hughes Net charge is automated monthly. Lucky for me for the time those double charges were showing up in my account I had no other charges coming through to cause me to have insufficient funds.

It's a little more complicated than that, we can't refund a payment we never received, it's up to the bank to release the fund back to the customer. In cases like these we advise the customer to contact their bank to get the funds back from limbo, sometimes you simply have to wait for it to drop back into the account automatically. If the funds do get to us and the customer has received two invoices for the same product, or we can see we've received both payments, then of course we'll refund immediately.

Fair enough. It really depends on the status of the transaction, whether it is a "Hold" or a completed transaction.

Unity support finally did a check on the transaction (which is first thing they should have done to avoid this whole fiasco), it was an combination of items I purchased, but I did not receive the pdf receipt email. Yes, I checked and no spam filters. I buy many items, sometimes multiple items in a single day.

Huh - come to think of it - I also experienced this recently with Best Buy, though my financial institution contacted me directly and asked if I bought two commodities for the same price. I said only one - and they declined the second charge as soon as the first one cleared, similar to your description.
