    Hi there.

I'm having a problem, the mouth of the character is constantly open, I know the reason is the animation I'm using, but I want to remove the jaw bone from the mapping so I can avoid this.

The problem is that when I enter in the mapping of the avatar I can remove the jaw, but as soon as I press "Done" it does some kind of re-import process and the jaw bone is back again in the same "Jaw" slot in the head, so I'm totally unabel to remove it, no matter if I assign a different bone. the jaw bone is always back.

How can I remove that bone from the avatar and avoid it coming back?

    Thanks!

I think best option would be to go to your 3D app and remove the bone from your rig, unless you downloaded some Asset Store model?

No, the rig is ours, but we need the jaw bone for other reasons, I just want to remove it from the mapping, there is no way to remove a bone from the mapping without it coming back?

But on the other hand, you could override the rotation yourself, I think nothing stops you from doing that, unless there is animation for that bone. Then I think animation will take over. But additional things like jiggle bones etc. that you might have in a character, those you can move with code.

Yes, that could be a possibility, but what I don't understand is WHY can't I change the mapping of my character? why is it re-imported after I modify it instead of respecting my modifications?

Well, no system is perfect. But I'd rather try to work around the problem that complain. Besides, for your final game you most likely have to adjust your models in some 3D app.

You need 1 or 2 lines of code to get that bone rotated, expose that rotation to UI and then you can fine tune your jaw position very easily. Assuming there's no animation.

No no, you don't understand me, I'm not complaining, and I'm thankful for your ideas.

What I'm trying is to understand how the system works, because it must be possible to do a manual mapping of the system, not just rely in the automatic mapping, that does not make sense, but there may be some kind of setting that I have to modify to allow this.
