    Defend your planet from incoming space debris. Blast asteroids, avoid collisions, use power-ups - and get a high score! This game plays like a twin-stick-shooter with a twist. All movement is "orbital." Your ship moves in an orbit around your planet, as do the enemies. It's a pretty neat spin on the classic space-shooter genre.

    We have made some HUGE changes to Orbital Defender. We would love your feedback!
    -Left Shift to boost
    -Hold Space Bar to change direction and initiate shockwave
    -New enemy added (Asteroid)

    Here are some assets from Orbital Defender. Models were made in Zbrush and hand painted in Substance Painter. Old work to show progression

    Looks awesome!!! I love the logo where the ship spins into the C like when playing. What a cool idea and nice design!

    Nice work, consider making your logo smaller and off to the corner so it's not blocking the view.

    Here is another planet that was drawn by a player, reimagined to fit in the world of Centroid! Low poly art is easy to do. The real challenge for me is making each pice feel like it belongs in the Centroid universe.

    So what's next for us? We are headed to PixelPop Festival which is in September. Before that time, our plan is to update the game with a store system.
    Players will be able to collect in game currency and spend it on ship skins and different planet types.
    We are currently designing a new enemy type.

    Here is the WIP attack animation of the new enemy. This enemy will spawn and chase the player, dealing damage if they are in range.

    We are making progress! The basic orb collecting is in. This is what will be used as currency for unlockables. They have a great sound effect when they are collected. We still need to make them visually juicy.

    We have redesigned the melee enemy to keep things consistent.
    This is the "walk" cycle and attack. The enemy will only go towards the player and not your planet.

    The player will not be able to damage the enemy through the holographic pieces meaning the enemy is vulnerable from the front when charging the player and it is vulnerable in the rear after it snaps shut.

    Hey there! Yep... we are still alive and plugging away at Centroid slowly but surely! I have been spending quite a bit of time creating cosmetic skins. We are not ready to show those yet but here is a new enemy players will have to face. Any name suggestions for these new baddies?

    I did so many iterations of this one in particular, and we finally found something we like.

    We are counting down the days before we present Centroid at PixelPop in St. Louis! Here is the new enemy in action! The laser does not hurt the core (planet), but will damage player. Player cannot shoot through the beam. This creates some interesting situations for players.

    After the holiday weekend, this new build will be play tested by my students. We will make the needed changes and then push the new build available for download here:

    I am currently designing a trophy for a future competition with Centroid. This will be printed on a Form 2 3d Printer.
    -Still need to refine the smoke, particularly around the base.
    -Make base more interesting
