    Hey all!

I'm proud to finally be able to share CATACLYSM with you in its finished form. The game was inspired by TowerFall, and it seems that there is now a whole genre around games like it (including Samurai Gunn, Duck Game, Starwhal, Inversus, Nidhogg, etc.). I may have missed the window when these kinds of games were hot, but I'm a big fan of the genre, and I believe I've made a solid addition to that collection. I hope that the game and its potential audience find each other. <3

For more information, check out the game page: https://moonjellygames.itch.io/cataclysm

That's all for now. Please enjoy CATACLYSM!

Hmm, well... I've had two people (including a friend of mine) tell me they wanted to try it out, but they can't because they don't have any game controllers. I can't do anything about that as the gameplay requires that each player has access to two analog sticks. But I can do something about this problem. I didn't put up a MAC build because I don't own or have access to a MAC to make sure that version runs properly, but perhaps it's worth it to get it out there anyways.

So I've done just that: I've made a MAC build and added it to the itch.io downloads options. If you do check it out, I would greatly appreciate it any feedback.

Holy cow! The graphics of this game is aesthetically pleasing, the gameplay is interesting, and cats in the mix truly makes an interesting game. Keep working on this beautiful creation

UPDATE: The day I posted the game, I swapped it with a slightly updated version. I tested the stuff that I added, but apparently I didn't test again after adding one final (tiny) thing. I'm extremely disappointed with myself as this version was actually broken-- after a match, the icons showing each players' deaths would not show up and you'll have to press Esc to close the game.

As of yesterday, the fixed version has been uploaded. So if your version is broken and you'd still like to play, you can get v1.2 on itch.io now.

I didn't see anything in the forum rules about it, so I hope folks don't mind the thread bump. The reason is that since my last post here, the game has received numerous updates including new stages, a new power-up, stage tweeks (one complete overhaul), and a bunch of other stuff.

Most importantly, perhaps, is I've fixed the Input Manager so that the game is no longer dependent upon players having DS4Windows installed and functioning properly (as I often had issues with it). I haven't had a chance to test the game with anything besides DualShock 4 controllers, but I expect that Xbox One controllers should work as well.

Just as always, all constructive feedback would be tremendously appreciated. It's a local-only two player game, so I understand that it's a bit of a tough sell, but I'd even be interested to hear what folks think who just mess around with the different bomb types by themselves. When prompted to "Press X", that refers to the DualShock button, but you can press the spacebar for player 2 to start the match if you don't have two controllers handy.

Thanks a bunch. And here's a new video. I've recently been recording matches between my girlfriend and I, so even if you don't try the game out, this should give you an idea of what it's about:

The game link is the same as the one in my OP: https://moonjellygames.itch.io/cataclysm

    Well, of course! ;)

Thank you for the kind words! I don't need to make money on this game, I just want people to play and enjoy it. <3

I like the idea of incorporating classic cartoon enemies as you've suggested. I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to do a sequel.

If I were a better graphic artist, I absolutely would. The style was chosen to be minimalist enough that I could make it look decent. Earlier versions were full-colour before I had the idea to go with the neon look, and trust me-- it was not pretty. :p

Thank you! I think that's a pretty good description. Like in Bomberman, you're almost as likely to K.O. yourself as you are to get your opponent if you're not careful. I hope you get a chance to play it with someone. :)
