Question Can't see console when play game on phone

Hi
I have built by game after checking the developmnet build box in the build settings. However when I then play on my phone (connected over usb cable) I can see the phone in the drop down under Editor but when I choose the phone it defaults back to the Editor option
Any ideas on where I went wrong?

NB when I disconnect the phone I still see the phone option so guess it is just cached?
