Can't rotate scene view

I'm relatively new to unity, i used it a while ago and just got back into it. So i redownloaded it and for the life of me i can't figure out how to rotate my view while in the scene view mode. I've looked through multiple threads but none of the solutions seem to help. I've tried holding alt and right click dragging, going to the hand tool and doing the same thing with left click, pressing play then stopping the test, and so far nothing has helped.

Fixed it! Didn't realize the xyz in the top right corner could get locked, found the tiny little lock and clicked it it's now fixed. Thank you for your help!

You can reset the layouts.
This will be solve your problem.

 

Oh my goodness! I was tearing my hair out (if I had any)....because I really want to get stuck into this, but the scene (display) just locked! Many thanks Falier4! I'm VERY GREEN to the Unity software.
Anyone with that same problem - got Windows - Layouts - DEFAULT. This shold reset your view straight away.

Falier, many thanks, clearly a bug that's been around for a bit and not been fixed, the bug even stays there after re-opening Unity. Resetting layouts cleared the problem (for me it had nothing to do with that stupidly small padlock, I had to use a magnifier to see if that was locked or not)

 

for those who still can't do it, just click on 2D in the project...have attached a screenshot if you can't find it...Hope your problem will be solved

 

Hello, I've tried clicking on 2D and reset the layout but it's still not working for me. Could someone please send a screenshot of where the xyz/tiny lock button in the top right corner is? I can't seem to find it. Thank you so much!

 

In case you didn't find it, here's a picture. In all these years I didn't even know this lock exists, until i accidentally clicked on it.
