I tried to access lighting menu to change the ambient light for the scene, but it's not possible. After trying for a while, I realised that absolutely nothing happens when trying to open any panel windows from the Window -menu.

    Unity 5.3.1f1 Linux experimental build

It works here on Lubuntu 15.10 64bit.

Can You try Unity on different desktop ( MATE, KDE, Unity, LXDE etc ) & if it's not working try to remove/purge completely ( with any setting files ) Unity & reinstall it one more time.

Thanks for your input. I'm not quite sure how I would go about changing the desktop (currently using MATE), but I could try that if I can decipher how to do it. Also, do you have any tips on making sure I purge the Unity install completely? I installed it from the deb, so that I'd need to remove at least, but there might be possibly some files in the home-directory, right? Or even somewhere else as well...

To change the desktop environment follow this tutor ( for safety reasons You always should backup your /home/USERNAME/ folder before applying any changes to system ):
    http://www.howtogeek.com/193129/how-to-install-and-use-another-desktop-environment-on-linux/

Or You can install Linux on pendrive:
    http://askubuntu.com/questions/1698...-a-usb-key-without-using-startup-disk-creator

As for completely removing Unity Editor ( before deleting any of those folders pleas BACKUP them for safety ):
    Code (CSharp):
    1.
    2. Step 1. Uninstall Unity editor in package manager ( synaptic or similar )
    3. Step 2. Delete folder /home/USERNAME/.config/Unity
    4. Step 3. Delete folder /home/USERNAME/.config/unity3d
    5. Step 4. Delete folder /home/USERNAME/.local/share/unity3d
    6.
After new Unity Editor install, if UE will stuck on grey screen You might be forced to manually recreate folder from Step 4.

    Try this:

    Quit Unity
Re-open Unity and menu items should work
    Press play then stop
    Menu should now not work.

If the above steps are true for you, then it's related to another bug that has already been reported.

This affects custom menu items too and I can't wait for this bug to get fixed as there are some custom menu items that I use all the time and this really breaks my workflow.
