My Mac says I have 25GB of free space. The install options I choose requires 14.3GB.

Unity installer says that I have just 8.5GB free...

I tried to place the install files at another HD, but still gives me that error.

Probably requires more space for caches and temporary files.

Just free up some space. 25GB free is basically 0GB free in today's standards.

I don't believe in that, must be some kind of bug with the installer.

The installer says I have 8GB free instead of the 25GB...

Maybe so! Free up some more space and see if it works, maybe file a bug report?

If it will install to 14.3GB it probably needs additional space to download components, decompress files, etc.

Disk space is cheap. Free some up or get a bigger disk. 1TB HDD's are going for $34 on Amazon with free Prime shipping right now.

Same with me, Unity hub seems bugged.
My windows system says I have 4GB MORE than I have free, and my Linux install says it has 3.6GB free (Not enough to install) when the system has atleast 25GB free. So it's impossible to install Unity on there :(

    I've got similar problem here
the point is that my system and Unity Hub said that I had about 90gb of free space on my SSD where I tried to install it and then when I was trying to install Unity 2019(which needed only 11Gb of space) it dropped me message like "There's not enough space to download and install selected item". I attached screenshots also so you can check it.
Is that a bug? Am I doing something wrong?
P.S. I tried to reinstall Unity Hub and it didn't help.

Unity Hub updates the free space only after a successful install. A workaround is, clear free space and do a bare necessity install. Then Unity Hub will update free space and one can install other components.

NONE of what anyone recommended has worked in the slightest. Unity is just plain broken and is now in meme territory thanks to this bug.

If you are installing to another drive and not the main C drive then if there isn't enough space for the temporary files on the C drive(Around 3GB atleast I think) it will say that try and free any space on the C drive like any unused files then try again once you have 3GB or more space free. I had the exact same problem and doing what I have said here instantly fixed it for me

I had the same problem on Windows - it's because Unity must be ran with Admin rights, but I work without it for security reasons. When I ran with Admin, all worked ok. But I don't know, would it require Admin rights further.

some problem with 100Go+ of free space.
I solved the problem by installing all modules except the Android one (with SDK+NDK).
I finally install the Android modules after that.

I believe Unity Hub temporarily downloads install files into a temporary file directory located on the primary hard drive (this is my thinking due to the way the offline installer works when you specify an install directory)

    *Solution*
Download the installer .exe file (Unity Assistant) from the "Latest Release" section of the Unity website.
(Found this out through the docs here: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/DeployingUnityOffline.html)

    Installer download location:
    https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download

I found a solution in Apple's developer forum. This looks like an OSX secret. You will see a lot of free space in the Finder and in reality the Finder shows the total of free space and erasable space. You can fix this by creating a large file with the terminal. Wait for the file to be created and then delete it. My Finder has shown 49 GB of free space. So I created a 45 GB dummy file.

    mkfile 45G ~/big_dummy
    rm big_dummy

I had the same problem and I couldn't solve but I eventually did. You open Unity Hub, at which point you go to that settings gear near your profile picture and you change the location of the Unity Editors Folder to D:, then you press the arrow pointing upwards on the right of the windows bar (it's near the sound and battery level if you have a laptop) and you close the application by right-clicking it and pressing "Quit Unity Hub". Afterwards, you open Unity Hub again and you install the Unity Editor you want. It's as easy as that (for me at least)

I use the arch linux ,and also had the same problem.
I found that UnityHub.AppImage use /tmp for cache the download files, names "unityhub-9725dab0-933d-11ea-afdb-8bbfcaad6e8f" "Unity-hubIPCService.sock",when i close the UnityHub.AppImage, these temp files will not been deleted.
Then I delete these files, It works well.

    Starting UnityHub 2.3.2 with
    Code (CSharp):
    1. TMPDIR=<path to enough space> ./UnitHub.AppImage
    worked for me.

It sounds silly, but seems in Mac Unity hub check disk space only after a "successful" installation. So if your space is enough but not showing in hub, just run a "small" install in hub (e.g. Editor without module) then your space will be "back" in hub.

For anyone still having this issue in 2020. This is probably due to the fact that your main drive with your TEMP folder doesnt have enough space. To fix this you can change the location of your TEMP folder temporarily to install the Unity version you are wanting.

To do this follow the steps shown here: https://www.howtogeek.com/285710/how-to-move-windows-temporary-folders-to-another-drive/

Change the TEMP system variable to be set to the location in a folder on the drive that has the most space.
After you have changed the TEMP location restart your computer and try to install the version of Unity you want.
After this is done make sure to revert the changes done to your system variables.

If you are using an SSD, and is installing Unity on a different hard drive, it is probably because your SSD does not have enough free space to download the temporary files. While downloading Unity, temporary files are created in your C:/ drive, and you need at least about 3gb of free space for the temp files. Free up some space and you should be good, it worked for me

Uncheck the iOS/Android build support, install Unity, then add them again via Add Modules does the trick.

I had my TEMP environment variable set to a smaller ramdisk and got this problem. Solved by moving the temp directory to a bigger drive. So check that TEMP points to a location that can fit your install.
