Can't Download Unity!

I'd post this in the thread specifically for 5.3.2, but the truth is that I've had this problem before with 5.3.1 as well. The downloader just stops mid-download and says some error occurred. Sometimes it even happens while loading the component list. I haven't been able to get a 5.3.2 download to work yet, so I'm stuck on 5.3.1!

 

Alright, I'm having this issue for the 5.3.3 installer as well. I still can't even load the component list. I've already contacted my ISP and there aren't any issues in my networking setup. It's not local to my machine, my teammate is having the exact same issue.

Replaced my comp's folder name with 7 A's(AAAAAAA) but that's the message the installer is at again... I've task manager turned it off and restarted t again... it's stuck at this spot AGAIN. =.= Plz someone help?

Hi! That is incredibly interesting. I'm pining folks buried in server stacks to see if there was a server down so data was slow or what is going on. Thank you so much for a snapshot of the error. I will update you soon!

This might or not might not be helpful, but I've been having this problem ever since Unity started the module based installations. If its a server down, it's been down a long, long time. (at least a month).

I thought it might be Charter doing something weird, but they say its on Unity's end. I'm just not sure how we're having this issue but very few if anybody else is.

 

Hi @eshan.mathur Quick update: It appears to have been a CDN issue. Purging the network seems to have resolved the issue, but if you could confirm that would be amazing! Thank you so much!

 

@holliebuckets no luck! The installer still gets stuck at arbitrary times. "Requested URL was not found on this server." It'll download quite fast for the first few tens of MB, then just stop. No matter how many times I hit retry, it won't continue. Once I fully force quit the installer and run it again, it'll just repeat that behavior.



I appreciate you looking into this - hopefully we can resolve this soon. Let me know if you want me to dig deeper and run any kind of diagnostic.

I got 58.6 mb of the way through and I got a failure. No amount of retry helps. Same problems.

I was told by the Twitter support to post here because I also have problems downloading Unity but I'm using Windows 10.
I can download Mac versions, cache servers, shaders and assets from here just fine but attempting to download any Windows installer or Editor will fail.

Trying to download Unity via the web installer will result in the attached error message.

The downloads fail from both, download.unity3d.com (older versions) and netstorage.unity3d.com (new version).
Pings to both servers work just fine (and Mac versions are hosted on the same server/domain).

Trying to download any of these files via wget under Linux results in a successful 200 request.
curl shows some data getting transferred but stopping very shortly afterwards (maybe resuming a few more times before failing).

Tell me if you need any details.
Not really sure what else to check though. The server just stops sending data, internet connection works fine with 12MB/s throughput.

I get a page with only "Foo" on it i you mean check the index of netstorage.unity3d.com. Works fine in browser, curl and wget.

Hi @eshan.mathur I'm going to pm you a binary file that has a special build of Unity for checking logs. Just putting the message on here too so all eyes watching know ^_^

 

Um... okay, here's a problem. It worked. The one time we needed it to actually fail, it didn't.

It stopped once through the download but hitting Retry actually worked, which it never did before.

As much as I'd like to call it a day, I think we all know this outcome isn't helpful in isolating the problem and most likely it will just happen again. I've provided the log anyway, but I'm considering moving this Unity install out of the way and running it again until I see it fail. Thoughts? @karsten99 @holliebuckets

Update... I've tried the debug installer and the retail installer for 3.2.2p1 multiple times now and it's all working perfectly.

I'm a bit worried the problem just happens to be masked by some kind of "environmental" network factors between my ISP/home and the Unity CDN, but there's not much I can do about replicating the problem.

I am getting the exact same problem described here. Is it really fixed?

 

My roommate and I were able to download 5.3.3p1 with no issues yesterday. Since nothing has really changed however, I'm wary of it. It sounds like perhaps the issue has migrated to your side of the world

Please report the following info Unfortunately this isn't as easy as subbmitting a bug report.
I need to know:
- OS
- Unity version
- run in a terminal, ping -c 2 netstorage.unity3d.com ,host netstorage.unity3d.com, and post the output
- run wget netstorage.unity3d.com and post the output here

 

Interestingly, it seems that if you update your Mac to the latest version, there's no issues. Anything before hand, and the installer bugs out.

Yep. Updating so every app and system updated is updated to latest version has seen it download without problem

 

@holliebuckets, @karsten99 aaaand as predicted, it's back. I'm on the latest, most updated version of OSX and trying to download the latest patch release of Unity.
