i tried to build my game for a friend that owns a pc but i couldn't get the build to work for him, this leads me to believe this problem is rooted in the fact that i'm working from a mac. I need help on how to get the game to work for my friend.

Well you did not say anything whats wrong, what error message in logs etc.

No one can help when you only say "it does not work".

Select "Windows" for the target platform, click Build, the end.

after searching for a friend with a windows computer i found out on mac when building for windows a folder called [buildName]_Data.

thanks for trying. fyi i didn't understand because building for mac on mac comes out as an actual finished application.

You also get an actual finished application on Windows, but Windows doesn't have app bundles like OS X so you need the data folder (same applies to Linux).
