    Hi there,

I am working with unity 2017.1.1f1 and Unity 2017.1.0f3. My project could not start after a crash few days ago. No response every time I tried to start the project in launcher. I found some solutions in the forum saying that deleting the UnityLockfile from Temp folder can fix the problem. I tried, and it worked, but not all the times. I had to repeat the process a couples of times in order to get it started.

Eventually I found that I could start the project smoothly if I turned off the internet connection and opened the scene file directly in Asset folder. Although I can open the project now, but I am sure there is something wrong there.

I tried to refresh the project by deleting the Library and Temp folders, but it didn't help.

In this morning I created a new project with a new project name, then imported everything from the project with problem, the new project could not start properly neither. Seems Unity server recognise something from the stuff I imported.

I have an older version of the project which is located in another computer and working well weeks ago. I tried to open the project there, it didn't work, it could started only if I deleted the Temp folder and unplugged the Lan line and double clicked the scene file directly, just the same.

I guest there is something messed up in the server after the crash. I am a newbie of Unity and I am not that technical to know how to refresh the server info, or delete cache from some where...Really appreciate if someone can help.

We've had exactly the same issue today running 2017.1.0p4 which has affected multiple people. Your workaround of starting in offline mode has worked for us to.

The log file isn't particularly helpful,

    Code (CSharp):
    1. egistering platform support modules:
    2. Downloading http://update.unity3d.com/2017.1/ivy.xml to C:\Users\PETER_~1\AppData\Local\Temp\unity\b5a6915e-fbe5-443f-a0be-960a34d66f89\ivy.xml
    3. Platform assembly: C:\Program Files\Unity 2017.1.0p4\Editor\Data\Mono\lib\mono\2.0\Boo.Lang.Compiler.dll (this message is harmless)
    4. Platform assembly: C:\Program Files\Unity 2017.1.0p4\Editor\Data\Mono\lib\mono\2.0\Boo.Lang.dll (this message is harmless)
    5. Platform assembly: C:\Program Files\Unity 2017.1.0p4\Editor\Data\Mono\lib\mono\2.0\Boo.Lang.Parser.dll (this message is harmless)
    6. Platform assembly: C:\Program Files\Unity 2017.1.0p4\Editor\Data\Mono\lib\mono\2.0\UnityScript.Lang.dll (this message is harmless)
    7. Platform assembly: C:\Program Files\Unity 2017.1.0p4\Editor\Data\Mono\lib\mono\2.0\Mono.Security.dll (this message is harmless)
    8. Registered platform support modules in: 0.0878506s.
    9. Native extension for OSXStandalone target not found
    10. Native extension for WindowsStandalone target not found
    11. Loading native library: iOSSupport\x86_64\UnityEditor.iOS.Native at C:/Program Files/Unity 2017.1.0p4/Editor/Data/PlaybackEngines/iOSSupport\x86_64\UnityEditor.iOS.Native.dll
    12. Native extension for iOS target not found
    13. Native extension for Android target not found
    14. Task failed: Downloader Task
Interestingly the log says Unity is trying to get to a ivy.xml file however the URL it uses ( http://update.unity3d.com/2017.1/ivy.xml) is currently invalid.

Yeah I'm getting the same here. Affects any version of Unity and any project. Disconnect from internet and it's fine.

I don't find any suspicious things in the log. Hope the DNS fix is the cure. Thanks for helping anyway. : )

How is this issue still not fixed?!
    Unity3D, RESPOND NOW!
For almost a week now I have to disable my network connection in order to start unity. Is that what we are paying your company so much money for?!

I got the same error today. Happened on all our Workstations (2) at the same time.
Happened with 2017.1.0p5 and after updating to 2017.1.1p4.
Only starting in offline-mode seems to fix it.

Ok, so I'm on 2017.0.2p4 (Mac) and after switching between projects - Loading screen appeared. Of course I know what it means.
It means that I should disconnect from Internet to use Unity at all. However I'm on remote desktop so... work is over for now? Seriously? It's December and this bug is still here from about September? Unbelievable...
