Cannot get teleport to go onto objects

I've tried every tutorial under the sun to get teleport to work. I cannot get so much as one working model. The closest I get is a very "pain to use" teleportation ability if I add a PlayerController. However I cannot get the teleport to teleport onto objects. Ive added items on different layers to the destination layer etc. all to no avail. How do I get up on a box?
