Can you use a 3D model directly in a 2D scene or do you need to render it to a texture first?

If you can use a 3D model, can you use a point light as well?

Yes, you can mix 3D and 2D. However, the 3D and 2D physics don't really mix, but you can use the 3D physics with 2D objects and vice versa.

I just want to use 3D models. I have my own physics.

There's no such thing as a 2D scene. The "2D" mode in the scene view is just for convenience when working with sprites, but the engine always remains a 3D engine.
