We are a computer graphics company that makes video and graphics animations for onset use in television shows and films. We have been using Adobe Director as a controller for cueing these elements. As you know, Director has been discontinued and will soon fail to function. We are looking for a replacement solution for this purpose. Although Unity is not designed for this function, could it be used for this purpose? Can unity be used to create a timeline based set of cues to play and loop, essentially, Quicktimes? Know of a better solution than Unity? Please share your thoughts.
I've seen Unity used a few times for this. Whenever you need your system to render things in realtime, Unity is a good choice.
Unity has added several new features over the last few years which may actually help a lot with this use case, such as Timeline and Cinemachine. https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/TimelineSection.html https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/topics/animation/using-cinemachine-getting-started
