Don't get anxious. I suggest you do a google search on marketing Unity games on the Play Store and App Store. There are many approaches from paying for ads to leveraging your social media accounts or friends that have a following. It is good to see young folks being an entrepreneur. Keep at it and you will find success with this game and/or future games.

All social media accounts start with zero followers, so don't let that put you off :)
Start simple, like a twitter account specifically about your game. You can start reaching an audience using appropriate hashtags, and use it to show off screenshots & videos of your game.

Reddit is a good place, devlog often so people get used to seeing the game.

I'm not following my own advice sadly, quality devlogging takes alot time, we should be doing more of it than we currently do

Do your parents approve? if it was my son and I could help I would.. Probably cheaper than a college degree to get you on life's way. Four years of game development would gain you many valuable skills to enter the job market with at 18. Do you have adults who could help? You would be surprised how many would view your ambitions at your age as a good thing and willing to assist.

This is true, but conversely, if they don't approve, don't let that deter you!

The key to marketing when you have no money is publicity. Get in touch with a local reporter, they'll probably want to write a feel good story about your achievements and ambitions.

Start a Twitter account etc and get involved in some game development communities online.

Get your friends to play the game. If it's good then naturally they will get their friends playing and so on. If they don't do this, it's a sign your may not be ready for prime time yet (this does depend on the games target audience, but i'm going to assume you made a game that you and people like you would want to play).

Submit your game into indie game or student game competitions. I'm not sure what's currently running at the moment but usually each organisation that runs some sort of indie game awards will run it once a year. Find ones that fit you and nominate your game. Again, don't get down if you don't hear back or don't get an award. Just keep entering and listen to all the feedback.

    Good luck!

Maybe, just remember that there is no magic bullet solution. No one thing will suddenly make your game a hit, you have to do everything you can.

You'll also find that things will start to snowball, say if a local reporter did write an article, it's then easier for someone like your cousin to share that:

"Hey guys, look what my cousin is up to! He's in the news!"

    etc.

    Just keep it really simple.

You are a cool guy making a cool game. You want to make sure that people know your game exist and if they are interested in it, they have a place to go where they can find out more and talk about the game.

When you talk about your game, just tell people in simple terms what the best parts about it are. Try to say it with as few words as possible.

Post updates about your game all over everywhere. If it seems like people are annoyed, just make a note about that - dont get upset. Some places are good for promotion, others aren't.

Also take notes about which of your updates are more popular than others. Maybe you can identify certain things people like to see versus others.

Don't overthink it because there is too many variables at play. Everybody thinks they got the right idea but only the largest corporations that have access to huge data have any real consistency in this sort of thing. And even they struggle.

The biggest thing, I expect, would be paid advertisement, but I don't think you ought to worry about that (unless you game is really incredible).

Does youtube generate increased exposure? And how much do you have to pay on average for good marketing? Also what about website and domain?

When i did it i just found an email address and told them my story.

you have to find a local paper or web news site and figure it out. They’re all different
