can i use .mat from unity to 3dmax ?

    I'm not sure how you would even use that in Max if it were importable. Materials in Unity are very different from the concept of materials in Max. Maybe you can get better help if you can explain what it is you're trying to do.

    i dont have 3d max yet ......
    need to know before buy ......

    or another idea how to make .mat files to use ? (materials)

    No, you can't do that as far as I know.

    EDIT:
    I'm not sure how you would even use that in Max if it were importable. Materials in Unity are very different from the concept of materials in Max. Maybe you can get better help if you can explain what it is you're trying to do.

    I'm probably answering the wrong question, but here it goes: It's done from inside Unity. From the Project panel, click on the "Create" button near the top, and then select "Material" from the menu that will show up. Then select the material that was just created and edit it in the Inspector panel.

    you can create materials in 3d max and import them in unity with .fbx for example. Vise versa it isnt possible

    3d max to unity ... cool
    but unityd to 3dmax ... not works ?

    my final goal is make .mat files to use in 3d max.
