Camera "catch up" and centering

    Working on a 2.5d game. Recently switched over my camera to Cinemachine. My camera drags too much, not "catching up" while moving or standing idle.

    Notice how the camera only "catches up" to the extent of the softzone...

    What I'd like to have happen is the deadzone + softzone + damping + screenX/Y ensure that the camera is not too twitchy or responsive, but when I start moving the camera will accelerate until the player's character is centered.

    Setting the softzone to nearly the same size as the deadzone helps a bit, but doesn't result in the feel I'm after.

    You could try pumping up the damping a bit more, keeping a big soft zone and a relatively small dead zone.
