Where can I find an example of BuildR-Mapity integration? Is it included in the asset store package? I haven't been able to find it.

Hi, I browsed through this draft. I couldn't make out the improvements regarding Interior Creation. That's the aspect I'm most interested in. If BuildR2 would allow detailed interiors that the player can just walk inside, the asset would be a killer for open-world games.

@davaguco you'll have to consult Mapity for integration stuff. I didn't write it so I can't speak for it.

@Gregorik I can't remember what I documented in that version, it's obviously not complete. I'll go over it quickly here.
On release BuildR 2 supports the creation of interior rooms for each floor in the building. The rooms are defined be a set of points so you can create almost any shape. They also support curved facades and attach correctly to the exterior facades taking the window properties from that.
In the walls you can define holes that can be used as doors, openings etc.
Each room can be assigned a style which defines the material used on the walls, floor and ceiling.
Finally you can define vertical spaces. These can either be generated as a space, an elevator shaft or a stairwell.
These spaces are defined as a rectangle with the ability to rotate it how you please.

    The roadmap for interiors...
Need to add in support for prefabs on the doors/windows to allow interaction etc.
Room style needs options for skirting, picture rails, coving.
Would like to see openings support more complex shapes
    Procedural generation of interiors.

Load more to talk about but that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Just a note that I'm hearing Unity has about a month long backlog for approving new assets so let's hope for mid April then! Good news will be there should be plenty of videos and docs ready.
This week I've added collider generation (primitive based, simple and complex levels), dormer windows are back and can be multiple rows now which is nice. Working on single draw call generation at the moment, almost done with that. Then it will be exporting to XML/Prefab/Asset/FBX Let me know if you guys have anything you're dying to see sooner rather than later.
Also attached the documentation that goes more into interiors for the interested...

    Hi @jasperstocker,

Just from a quick scan read of the docs and upcoming updates buildR2 is looking top notch. Really looking forward to this new update. Thanks for supporting this great product consistently for the last 4 years. In that time I've seen many abandoned assets. BuildR is one of those that is too good to let go:)

Thanks docsavage - I've been on the store for almost 6 years now and BuildR is the closest asset to my heart. Always wanted to be an architect when I was a kid :D

It sounds fantastic. Just some pics or stuff here in the meantime may help though. Plus a link to this thread from the store page would probably get more interest also IMHO. Sounds great though

Documentation is included. 42 page pdf.
I'll be working on online stuff over the next week or so along with producing lots of videos for promotion and "how to"s
Also need to finish the single draw call mode and ship that in the next couple of weeks.
And I'll probably start a new thread and kill this one unless people have a reason to keep everything on here?
    All in good time...

I'm in favor of a new thread. Not because this one is too long, but to be proactive and get upgraders and new buyers in sync with the new product.

I upgraded to 2.0, and am getting a first look at the new version.

    So, one small request ...

On the free version of Unity, the title bar (Volumes, Floor Plans, etc.) in the inspector - which has black lettering - is difficult or impossible to read. A different background color would help. Possibly a pastel? :)

Could you send me a screenshot. It looks fine with mine when I switch to a personal skin, but maybe there is something different with Personal (shouldn't be but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place too :D )

It's hard for me to read. Maybe it's a colorblindness issue. To me it's kind of like black print on eggplant. ;)

Ah - that looks terrible! It didn't look that bad on my screen. Thanks for the screenie. I've hard coded it to white. New version in store soon.

I'm afraid I'm no longer offering this path.

Was there ever a special upgrade path?

There was a special upgrade path for about a year since BuildR 2 was released. Now that the project has had significant work and divergence (almost 2 years development time), I felt the time was right to drop a discounted upgrade path.
