Build fails with IL2CPP

    Hello,

    I'm getting this error when trying to build with IL2CPP for Android. Mono works fine, and iOS as well.

    Code (CSharp):

    It looks like this is the relevant error message:

    This means there is a native method named natInitialize which cannot be found in a native library in the build. Based on the name of the managed type - FMLibiOSController - I suspect you have some code which is for iOS only in the build. IL2CPP requires that all native methods used in managed code be present at link time, where Mono does not. I would recommend wrapping this managed code which is specific to iOS in #if UNITY_IOS/#endif defines to eliminate it from the Android build.

    Yes, I managed to get it working, forgot to update it here. Wrapping my whole FMLibiOSController fixed it!

    The project was upgraded from Unity2018, and at that time LWRP used to be experimental. ( I didn't try to build using IL2CPP back then)
    I tried to disable 'Stripe Engine Code' option but not successful.

    This looks like it might be a slightly different issue from the original one in this thread. Unfortunately, the strip engine code option won't have an impact here, as this error comes from the managed code stripper.

    This does seem like it might be an upgrade issue. I wonder if the API Updater ran properly for this project. You might want to try two things, if possible:

    Try this project in 2018.3 (where it worked) with an IL2CPP build. Managed code stripping is disabled by default for Mono and enabled by default for IL2CPP. If it works with IL2CPP in 2018.3, then it is probably an upgrade issue.

    If you find that is an upgrade issue, try to re-import any managed assemblies in the project. That should cause the API Updater to run, and it should modify those assemblies to use the non-experimental render pipeline.

    Hi i'm trouble with il2cpp android build please help.

    i'm trying to many version of unity and also build failed with empty project of unity android build with il2cpp.

    I'm unsure about the cause of this problem. It looks like the C++ compiler in the Android NDK is failing, but we don't get an error message.

    When this error occurs, leave the Unity editor open, and then run the failing compiler command from the command prompt:

    My try to re-install the Android NDK then. There was a bug with the Unity Hub recently which caused it to install the wrong Android NDK version. If you installed the NDK via the hub, maybe that was a problem.

    I believe that you will need to update Unity to get a new Android API.

    Hi @JoshPeterson ,
    I have some problem on arm64 architecture ,
    I make a build with ARM64 architecture that is working very slow(lagging) on android device, and i also make a build with ARMv7 architecture that is working perfectly.
    So what should we do for that?

    Unity version : Unity-2019.2.0f1
    ndk version : android-ndk-r16b

    I think your best option will be to profile the ARM64 build. I'm not aware of any known performance issues with Android ARM64, but it could be something specific to you situation.

    The selected executable file is not a valid application of this operating system

    Obviously Mono build works but I've only problem with IL2CPP

    Currently it's D:\Unity\!Projects\VrTest\

    Hi

    Does building il2cpp android require anything additional to be installed apart from the android build support (SDK NDK) that the hub installs when installing unity? I'm having a HARD time getting IL2CPP to work. even just compiling an empty android scene.

    Probably you have to dowlonad ndk 16b from here https://developer.android.com/ndk/downloads/older_releases and then after unpack in Unity Edit > Preferences you have to unckeck "Android NDK Installed with Unity" and set to directory where you unpacked this downlaoded NDK.

    NDK provided with Unity 2019.2.2f1 in my case was broken. After doing this steps everything is now working ;)

    Seemed to work at first, but when I download my app from the PlayStore the app crashes instant (black screen appears for the blink of an eye, no splash etc.). It seems like I'm not the only one.

    Did anybody encounter similar issues and already found a workaround?

    Well if your apk file work on your phone during testing and don't work after upload in google play store then it is different issue.

    You're building for Android, yet you're linking an iOS library? You should disable this library for Android probably.

    Click on that plugin in Unity's project view, plugin inspector should open, deselect Android as compatible platform.

    Is that really a full error? from the looks of it, il2cpp invoked linker, but the library was not produced. But I would expect to see somekind of error from linker

    Is your user name really "User"? Not a problem, just curious. You have C:\Users\User.. and also G:\Program Files\... typically both of those are on the same drive. Likely not relevant, but something to check perhaps.

    I read about to install the appropriate NDK's version for the Unity Editor outside from Unity Hub. But, what is the correctly NDK version and is that enough?

    This looks odd - there is some error happening, but I don't see any output from clang in the Android NDK. Can you try this?

    1. Cause the issue to happen in Unity - then leave the Unity editor open
    2. Go to a terminal, and run the exact clang command with the arguments mentioned in the error message.

    Is there any useful output from clang? If so, can you provide it here?

    I'm not entirely sure why this happens. It means that the process was killed with a SIGKILL signal. IT might have run out of memory. Does the error happen pretty quickly, or does it run for a while?

    Hey,
    That error is happening over the "Building native binary with Il2CCPP" process independently of the target architectures checked and take sometime to show. Did this info helps? Has some other instructions about it?
    May the Unity Cloud it's more secure to make this build or I will have to downgrade my project to a 2018 Unity release?

    I tried to install the latest unity version in 2019, but these error persists and I really don't know how to fix it.
