[bug] Unity 2020.2.2f1 : "Failed to load window layout"

    I created several smaller 2D games with several older 2019.x.x LTS versions. Last week I create a 2D project with 2020.2.1f1 without any problemst. Now I updated to 2020.2.2f1 and wanted to start again a new 2D project but I only get endless error dialogs


    Failed to load windows layout
    This can happen if layout contains custom windows and there are compile errors in the project.
    The type initializer for
    'UnityEditor.UIElements.UIElementsEditorUtility' threw an exaption.

    Revert Factory Settings | Lead Default Layout | Quit


    No matter If I clock "Revert Factory Settings" or "Load Default Layout" - the same error dialog always reappears again and again. I just wanted to cvreate a NEW (!) 2D project ...

    Is this Unity version buggy?

    I tried again with 2020.2.1f1 and not error occured ... => seems to be a 2020.2.2f1 bug !?

    This is happening for me on 2020.2.1f1 as well! The exact same issue.

    Also the next time I open unity, it opens 2 windows one of which is just blank. And if I close the blank one it shuts the other window as well.

    I just noticed on a new project that it now also happens with 2020.2.1f1 ... it seems random. After I "quit", the project opened. I closed it and converted it to 2020.2.2f1 - and it worked. I wonder when a 2020 LTS version is finally released.
