The same cookie in gamma and linear are completely different. In Linear mode they are over-brighten. Seems to be a missing conversion of cookie render in linear mode. (doesn't matter of HDR, deferred)

Reducing range in linear mode cause the cookie light looking ugly.

    Done.

Seems real-time lights generally are extremely over-brighten in linear. The transition between light and unlighted area is very rough.

Is your cookie an HDR image?

No, it's a tga 32bit. Happen on any Cam setting, forward, deferred, HDR, etc..

    Try an 8 bit image.
