    ill be doing updates for all my free packages in the asset store ,
    my account = https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/publisher/909
    -first on the list is "monster 2"
    the model has been completely remade, the update will also have a better scifi environment, better shaders and new sound effects (model previewscreen=
    monster2_1.jpg )
    -next will be the "low poly city block"
    if u have suggestions for the updates let me know ;)

    The update looks great, but is that a seam of some sort on the back of his neck?

    tnx , the seam is caused by a cinema4d render , this isnt happening in unity or in a editor screen , i dont know why this happens

    pack update2 : deserted skyscrapers(my crappy pack ;))
    almost finished as this one is fairly easy, will rename it to dirty skyscrapers though.

    Hello Mister D,

    I applied InteriorMapping to your deserted skyscrappers and they are not so much deserted anymore :)

    hey aubergine, interiormapping looks really cool ! well done,
    it will look even better with the update im working on ;)
    ive made an airplane and a simple script to fly around in it, i think ill finished it tommorrow and submit it.

    Doesnt matter really, but if you can do on all of them it would be great. I do lighting with my own shader.

    I saw your work here from the first day and have to say that you realy evolved in modeling, animation and style.

    hi, thank u sir! its been a bumpy road but now i can produce some stuff where im actually proud off(well, not completely as there is always something imperfect ;) ) ive got to fix some mesh errors i only noticed after submitting the skyscrapers, but im gonna finish the "monster1" first.

    ive scripted a simple controller for monster1
    webplayer = https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19865679/monster1/monster1.html
    the lighting isnt working ok , the webplayer cant handle many realtime lights i guess.
    mouse to look around, space to jump, shift to run, left mouse to attack, right mouse to grab and holster weapons.or just use a xbox controller.

    A fun thing about this monster is he looks at home in both fantasy and sci-fi environments. I'm going to have to try to find a way to use him. :)

    im making some extras like cobwebs and mushrooms to fill the cave. after that ill submit it.

    It would take a little more time, but you know you could have him start off as the basic monster in a tiny sci-fi or sewer tiled area, then as he crosses over to fantasy caves he gets his armor. Basically a simple trigger to turn his armor off when he's in the sci-fi zone and back on again when he leaves.

    im not going to do that, but ill make 2 prefab controllers , one with and one without the armor, theres plenty scifi or sewer environments on the store allready

    im working on the "low poly city block", every building now uses a atlas texture. still need to make more variations, some trees and a couple of props to fill the environment.

    I do not remember robots with tentacles being in the low poly city kit ... but they do make it look more interesting!

    its inspired by war of the worlds, i thought it would be cool to add some life in the scene, and i allready made that tripod so why not.

    im not going to set the low poly city block free anymore, i spent to much time on this asset, im thinking 30$ for the moment but im open to suggestions, what would u pay for it?

    okido , ill finish the tripods animations and submit it , for free! im actually fine with that to be honest, i have some robots on the store and dont get many sales. i cant believe anyone can make a living of selling on the asset store(maybe if u have a 100 model packs).im done doing updates(phew) then ,ill have to find another project to start on to keep me busy ;)

    BTW, I had seen your urban assets (low poly city block and skyscrape) quite some time ago and decided not to download them, even though they were free, because I felt they didn't match my game's style. I was looking for something very realistic and kind of location-driven (NYC, maybe). But after seeing this thread I decided to download them for use in mockups and I put some characters alongside them ... and I like the look!

    I'm definitely going to continue using them in my game testing, and might even wind up using something inspired by them.

    yes its hard to find matching 3d models, most of the time u look for something specific and there s something small not fitting the style of your project when using some free assets. i actually prefer the not completely realistic style, but thats personal of course ;)

    One of the decisions I have to make regarding "realistic" versus "semi-realistic" style is on urban scale. It's typical in games to keep scale of buildings small. Partly that's to keep within memory restrictions, and partly that's to keep the action going ... not so much dull space to travel over. I've been contemplating breaking that guideline and going with a more real world scale, but I'll have to see how it goes in mock play.

    Another factor is travel speed. I anticipate my players will travel quickly, but I need to find out what the practical limits are as dictated by hardware and AI. If players can't really travel all that fast, I'll have to simulate high travel speed with a more typically scaled game world.

    next pack ill be doing will be a cartoonlike characterpack of paratroopers and will also be free! ive never done a cartoon pack before but its so much easier to handpaint everything instead of looking for the right photos to texture everything in the same style.

    Just want to come in and say your stuff looks awesome, and thanks a lot for offering these for free to the unity community, you certainly don't see models of this quality for free every day, that's for sure :)

    no i dont have it anymore. i made it 3 years ago, and i forgot to download a copy before submitting the update. didnt think someone would prefer the old version, sorry

    ive checked it but i only see the "monster" is used, if anyone still has the low poly city block older version please share the unitypackage. next time i do updates ill make a backup of the previous version, its a valueable lesson ive learned

    P.S. Should you be able to set the "Weapon Pack"-asset for free for a limited time please? We've met before already, but my account doesn't seem to respond at all when logging on into the Asset-Store.

    I like the new asset, but I liked the old one too - it actually fit my theme better - and I didn't anticipate that the new version would be so different from the old version. Unfortunately, I imported the new asset into the only project that had the old asset, and I didn't have a copy of Low Poly City Block sitting in my version 4 folder of the asset store.

    But somebody out there ought to have it in their Unity 4 asset store folder though, right ...?

    (EDIT: BTW, it's not the end of the world for me if nobody can send in a copy of this asset. It's only something I want, not something I need. If anyone can locate a copy and send it in, my thanks to you!)
