Nimian Legends BrightRidge 1.3 running on iPad Air 2

I'm still working on the details but so far it can handle almost all the effects of the Mac version as well as full resolution textures. Update 1.3 includes extensive quality options. There's such a huge divide between the performance of IOS devices today that extensive customization is necessary to get the best performance out of your particular device.

    Nimian Legends BrightRidge for Mac

I've managed to get a lot of the atmosphere and effects into a new HD update for IOS too. All coming soon.

    Animal Companions

The next update focuses on bringing BrightRidge into Unity 5 and Metal, but the one after add animal companions. you can tame them and amass a small army of loyal pets who will keep you company and follow you wherever you go:)

    Baedils

Nimian Legends BrightRidge. Baedils are giant beetles that roam the continent like herds of cattle. Friendly and curious they multiply rather quickly, and are commonly seen attached to rockfaces like gigantic barnacles. Their shell is nearly impenetrable and provides an excellent defense.

Baedils can be tamed in BrightRidge, and will follow you wherever ypu lead them. The Baedil was created for an earlier game and have been a common site in my Nimian Legends universe. I’m really excited to finally bring them into a 3d world, where they browse green hills.

Baedil - the idea was a cross between a giant beetle, a crab and cattle

A curious Baedil mother and her children investigate you by the falls.

Shhh... a small herd of Baedils hiding in the grass

I'm glad you like the look of it virror. It's in Unity so as soon as the Mac version is ready (ive been adding gamepad and mouse keyboard control) the PC version should just be a click away, and if all goes well with the conversion i should release them at about the same time. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to distribute the PC version (steam? Windows store?) The big addition to this update is the extensive quality options because now the game is being distributed across so many platforms that giving the player the ability to fine tune performance vs detail is more important than ever. What's great about Apple Metal tech is that the new IOS version is actually quite close to the Mac version in many ways (realtime shadows etc)

Thanks for the tip virror:) I don't know much about how to distribute PC versions of the game, but I know steam is big and i will try to get on it. I think it's very popular and it could be a good way to let people know about BrightRidge.

    Gender Equality comes to BrightRidge

I spent a few days upgrading the animation system to Mecanim, something i've been meaning to do for over a year, and the results were great. Now thanks to retargeting I have been able to add in a female playable character: Giska. It also open up a lot more opportunities for animation bith in fluidity of movement and variety. Im fighting a cold so need to take a break, but when i come back i will be making the last push to release Version 1.3 for Mac, PC and IOS, with new locations, roads, female character, effects and options.

Game design isn't without its glitches:)

The Baedils are curious creatures roaming most of the known countryside. In the future i'd like to expand their AI even further. They make a kind of interesting creature to interact with in the game and further my goal to create a real living open world wilderness.

    BrightRidge 1.3 video

Please ignore the choppiness - it's the screen recording.

A quick video that shows some of the upcoming features in Nimian Legends BrightRidge 1.3 for 64bit IOS, Mac and PC, including depth of field, upgraded water effects, improved atmospheric scattering and realtime shadows, as well as a new female playable character: Giska and new areas to explore. The Mac and PC versions use the mouse scroll wheel to change you camera zoom, it's a really cool way to interactively explore your environment quickly. There's also a new over the shoulder camera angle that's more like The Witcher 3 (can't wait!) or Skyrim (almost the best game ever) so you can really see the environment close up.
